How KindLocator verifies listings
Verification means the published record is traceable to a named source and has passed our field-level review. It does not mean a provider has space or can help everyone today.

Start with a named source
We review an official page, provider website, public directory, or other attributable source. Anonymous tips are leads, not published facts.

Build one clear record
We normalize the organization, program, service categories, coverage, access methods, contact details, eligibility notes, and source link. Separate locations remain separate when that helps people find the right door.

Check practical details
Addresses and coordinates are checked for map use; phone, website, county coverage, and in-person or remote access are reviewed against the source. Unclear fields stay cautious instead of being guessed.

Publish the evidence
Every active listing shows a verification label, its named source, and the date it was last checked. Time-sensitive details are marked so people know to call before traveling.

Maintain the record
Corrections enter a review queue. Records can be updated, held from publication, or archived when the source no longer supports the listing.
What the labels mean
- Official source
- A public or official source was reviewed directly.
- Community provider
- A provider source and core contact information were reviewed.
- Confirm before visiting
- Hours, capacity, intake, or location details may change.
